Insider Guide: Selecting Natural Stone With The iSpace Team
When we were choosing finishes for our office kitchen, natural stone was at the top of the list. It has that mix of timelessness and texture that instantly elevates a space. We headed to Cav’art Designer Stone, one of Australia’s leading stone suppliers, to hand-pick slabs and talk through what would work best for the way we use the kitchen day to day…
Walking through their warehouse, we looked at everything from marble and granite to quartzite and limestone. For us, it wasn’t just about the look — we were also thinking about how each option would stand up to constant use, what kind of maintenance it needed, and how it would pair with our joinery.
Cav’art make the process simple. You get to see the full slabs, talk through layout and veining, and ask about sealing and upkeep so you know exactly what you’re choosing.
“We were thrilled to supply our natural stone for the Sydney offices of iSpace Solutions. Having worked with Javier and the team over the years on beautiful residential and commercial projects, we were grateful to guide them through our natural stone range to help find the perfect stone pieces for to their own office and kitchen space, and to complement their stunning joinery. Our Cipollono marble in a leathered finish was the perfect choice.”
A few tips if you’re selecting stone:
Choose the right type: Quartzite and granite are great for benchtops because they’re tough and heat-resistant. Marble is classic but works better in lower-use areas. Limestone gives a warm look but needs regular care.
Think about the colour: Lighter tones sit beautifully with oak or brass. Bolder slabs, like Super White Dolomite, really shine against darker cabinetry.
See the whole slab: Veining and pattern can change across a piece, so it’s worth laying it out to check how it flows on benchtops, splashbacks or waterfall edges.
Ask about maintenance: Every stone needs a different level of sealing and care. Getting this right early will keep it looking good for years.
The process reminded us why natural stone is worth it. It’s durable, unique and brings character to any space — even an office kitchen.
At iSpace, we design our joinery to work with every surface and finish. If you’re planning a renovation or new build and want to explore stone options, we’d love to chat.
